It's called the Elpat Bill.
Hey Ashling, I posted the info on the resources page. You can check it out if you want to.

Welcome to this page!!!!!!!

All you need to know is that we are crazy!!!!!!!!

This is Ashling and Haasya.

I was in the car yesterday, and I thought about an awesome thing we could do for a bill. (We are doing microchipping dogs, but maybe this could be for the future?)
-To require all U.S. families to plant at least one tree a year.
(They can either plant the tree themselves, or give money to organizations that plant trees.)
What do you think? (Again, this is just an idea, and we are still doing microchipping dogs and cats.)

That is a super-awesome idea, Haasya!!!!!!!!!! But when would we put it in a bill to debate for this thing????? Doesn't MiniModel Congress end for us after this year?????????

We could put on the big list of ideas for bills and maybe someone will do it next year?

Hi Girls, I'm glad to see that you are still brainstorming. I just posted something on Edmodo about microchipping pets. Let me know what you think. Mrs. Esposito

Also, just a suggestion: when you add something to this page, why don't you place it on top, so that you don't have to scroll all the way down to the bottom to get the newest info? Like I said, just a suggestion.
Good idea! -HK

Girls, I'm sorry to tell you this but your bill already exists in Congress:

112th CONGRESS

1st Session

H. R. 1040

To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide taxpayers a flattax alternative to the current income tax system.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

March 11, 2011

Mr. BURGESS (for himself, Mr. BARTLETT, Mr. COLE, and Mr. ROSS of Florida) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means, and in addition to the Committee on Rules, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned

HIII!!!!!!!! This is Ashling and Haasya's page, but haas is already typing that and i don't care but she does so yeah.

Ideas for Bills:
To require all taxpayers to pay the same percentage of tax regardless of their career.

As i said before, haas, (this is Ashling) we'll have to do more research on this one. The government most likely made tax payments the way they are for a reason, because some people's jobs don't pay as much as other poeple's and maybe people with lower salaries don't like how they get paid, but they can't do anything about it and plus some people choose to have jobs with lower salaries because they love what they do and stuff. SO if they don't get paid a lot, they can't pay the higher taxes that other people can because then they'd go broke and bankrupt and stuff or something.

It doesn't mean that the people are paying higher taxes. For example, let's say Person A gets 100 dollars a year and Person B gets a 1000 dollars, there should be a flat tax of like 10%, it should be that A pays 10 dollars and B 100 dollars. Person B shouldn't pay more than the 10%. But, you're right with people picking lower salary jobs because they like what they do. That's a point we need to think about.

ok, so i haven't come up with any more ideas, so i guess we could look into this one some more. But i really don't feel like doing it this weekend, i need a break. Hey, here's and idea: maybe we could both get out of LA class on monday or Tuesday by asking if we can go to the library, then spending all our class time there doing research. And then when we get back( preferrably at 2:48,) and they ask why we were gone for so long, we could say that we had a hard time looking for an SSR book, and then when we found the one we wanted, there was a really long line at the checkout desk. And then, Ms. Soult had asked us to help sort books, and that took a while. And then, just as we were about to leave to go back to the classroom, we realized that we had to go to the bathroom. And then all the bathroom stalls were occupied, so we had to wait. And then, we found out that we had "accidetally" left our passbooks in the library, so we had to go get them. And then, we came back to class.
But i get what you're saying about the tax thing. An extensive pros and cons list would be good. Because some people have a choice of their job and what kind of salary they will make, but with this economy, most don't. But then again, the state and economy won't really care about how this would be affecting individuals, they'd speak for the majority of the nation as a whole. So this could possibly work. I mean , we already have the wording for the bill figured out, and i'm starting t olike the idea more. Plus, it would help me to understand taxes better. I'll do some research tomorrow, (if i can-as i said, i'll be busy) and see if i can come up with anything useful such as why taxes are the way they are, and the approximate percentage of american citizens who would be in favor/against this idea.
So, is this The Topic??????????????

No because it already exists in Congress! I feel sad because I thought our bill was really good this year. Here are some things we could consider for a new bill:
-Banning plastic bags at supermarkets (might have already happened in some supermarkets)
-Require all American families to donate a certain amount of used clothes to charity (does it seem too harsh?)
-Require all school buses to have an additional chaperone (not including bus driver) to monitor the students. (Helps stop bullying???)
-To require all restaurants and fast food places to write the number of calories a kind of food has next to that food on the menu. (This already happened in California, but I haven't seen it in NJ. I'm not sure if we'll be able to do it though, because it already kind of happened.)
-Increase fines for overdue library books??? (Mmmm...probably not.)
Can you think of anything???
ok, well, i know for a fact that the fast food thing is in New Jersey because i just ate McDonald's yesterday. The calorie count for each product is also on the food wrappers and containers. Did you know that just a burger and fries is like, 800 calories??????? i'm glad that i hadn't had much to eat that day until then. Plus, it made me enjoy my burger more. Anyway, i think the plastic bags thing is already happening plus they are now selling those cloth tote bags all over the place, so people who actually care are buying them. The charity thing seems nice, but in the grand sceme of things, with the economy the way it is, it's not possible. The school bus thing seems ok but if we do it might i suggest that the chaperone sit in the back of the bus because that's usually where the most trouble seems to happen. Yeah, well, the library thing is definitly not going to get passes, again with the economy, and plus, it will just make people who have overdue books but don't have the money to pay the fine and are with people who do have money more guilty. I speak from personal experiance. And again, the economy. Plus, the sad truth is, people don't even go to libraries as much as they used to. Which reminds me, i gotta go to the library sometime!!!!!!!!! Anyway, we could do something that has to do with school supplies, though i don't really see a problem...how about something like the town will give schools a certain amount of free printer ink and paper usage, but after they exceed the limit, they'll have to pay for every time they use the printer after that for a month????? Kind of like a texting /calling plan for messaging and minutes on a phone????? Lame, i know, but it's all i can come up with right now.
So we are doing the microchips in dogs?
Yes, yes we are. It sounds very interesting, and i want to read the article that mrs. esposito posted a link to on edmodo, but edmodo is not working right now, so i'll look up something else for right now.
I found some information. I'll post on the resources page.
ok, yeah. DUMBLEDORE'S ARMY RULES AND ALSO CARES ABOUT ANIMALS RETURNING HOME T OTHEIR LOVING FAMILIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
